ROUND AND ABOUT
BY JUDAS ISCARIOT - SEPTEMBER 2005

The autumn rain is hammering on the dug-outs. In the distance the cheers at the news of the stunning victory over the might of the Australian tourists floats over the palisades of the DWP. But on the DWP front members are concentrating on the new offensive that many believe will begin at the end of the month.

Everyone expects support for the one-day strike though few know how the "discontinuous" actions the GEC have warily tagged on to the ballot will operate in practice. One or two offices in London where rage at local management's arbitrary actions have driven members to boiling point are on stand-by but most will wait to see whether the DWP mandarins retreat from their demand for unconditional surrender after the first protest strike.

Meanwhile the simmering feud amongst the LUNITY DWP grandees continues. MENDICANT loyalist JOHN MCINALLY and the SWP are in the process of falling out following rather public criticisms of him by ROB BRYSON who sits in PARDOES old Bunker in the central London Branch. He's been attacking MCINALLY for "blocking the ballot" and stitching up the dispute. John apparently wants WORDS! A militant tsunami is awaited.

The earnest brethren haven't been idle either. A letter in its latest edition of Solidarity, the Alliance for Wankers' Liberty rag, states.

" Whilst fully supporting the Socialist Caucus.. There is one area of PCS membership where I'd fully support job losses.in the PCS Immigration Service. Apparently the union does not see its' role from the perspective of the refugee but "seeks to improve the working conditions of its members".

The author of this rant is someone from the NO ONE SHOULD BE LEGAL campaign (or is that illegal) and he calls on the Caucus to "challenge" PCS members doing err. their jobs. AWL members MCDONALD, HULME and BALONEY are suitably chastised.

Meanwhile on page 4 a PCS CARCASE member in London (you have two choices) calls on the DWP members in 12 of the 14 branches to take action against job losses and relocation. Except no transfer to Customs or Immigration because job cuts need to be made there.

The WEEDY WANKER's summer COMMIE UNIVERSITY got off to a great start. A massive 22 people attended its opening session. During the week "Cockney voice of Barnsley " Lee ROCK likewise attracted the masses to hear his "minority position talk" (which in a party of just 25 members must mean no more than 11 others who agree with him) on The nature of Respect and the Popular Front. LEE ,of course, lost all his votes in his Branch very badly so his definition of popular would certainly merit a minority position anywhere!

And just when you thought it was safe.... along comes the final report of the Internal Audit Review of Health and Safety in Jobcentre Plus (Audit H S Final 200720051 ) and it coruscates Management as being too incompetent to run a piss-up in a brewery - so no change there. How they'll try to wriggle off the hook this time remains to be seen. The Waring report three years ago reached pretty much the same conclusions but Management ran a mile and refused to discuss the findings because they hadn't commissioned it. The report adds some welcome icing to Marek's recent musings about increases in reports of violence in JCP. Did I mention the report hasn't been published yet at the express request of JCP Management? Oh, dear. It has now. Isn't the Freedom of Information Act a marvellous tool?

KIP COLLINS is not a name widely known outside the CSA. This is because KIP, through his membership of MILITANT and now the SSP has had a glittering career in the union, despite his failure to be elected to anything.

KIP began his career in the old CPSA Edinburgh, Lothian and Borders Branch. He was held in such contempt by the members that KOWALSKI, SAMUEL, MCINTYRE etc easily kept the branch Trot free by simply allowing KIP to speak at AGMs in support of the left. The members reaction was to vote in droves against whatever KIP happened to be putting forward.

KIP then moved to CSA Falkirk, and his presence there has helped ensure that whilst Scottish branches all around fell to Left Unity like dominoes, Falkirk
